Go on, I dare you

Ever tell someone something about yourself -- like a goal, plan, or something you'd like to do -- and have that person give you that look. You know the one I'm talking about...the look that lets you know they are trying verrrrrry hard to not have their face convey what they are really thinking. That you can't do it, don't have it in you, aren't capable.

Have you gone ahead and done it anyway, just to prove them wrong? Has their doubt inspired you to greatness? Or has it made you doubt your ability just a little bit more than you already did?

  1. Funny story...I was working as a consultant in Smalltown, VA and had the opportunity to move to DC for a year to consult with a financial firm there. I told boyfriend at the time, and he said "you would never have the guts to just pick up and move in one week's time like that".

Just because he said that, I did it :)

Turned out to the best decsion of my life. It literally CHANGED my life. I still see him occasionally, and once I thanked him. For doubting me. I don't think he really understood, but who cares.

  2. P90X. It's Day 39. He said I wouldn't make it a week...because he didn't.

  3. DSS love that story!!!
I'm pretty sure if I said I was going to run a marathon I would get that look especially considering how much I hate running, but maybe if someone "doubted" me that would be the kick in the ass I needed!!!

  4. I lost 10 pounds in 10 weeks, healthy & safe, and I got a lot of flack. Have you ever seen the "Haters Gonna Hate" poster? Just make it your mantra!

    The poster here: http://joannagoddard.blogspot.com/2010/08/mantra.html

  5. I was too much of a wimp. I swear I only have the ability to take very calculated risks and then make sure my mom and 5 other people approve before I go ahead and do it. I hate it!
